| Job Description: |
| Needing only limited supervision, undertaken the Principal and General Inspections of Highway BRidges to current Highways Agency requirements and procedure.
Report the finding of the inspections using the HA SMIS system.
Draw up the annual programme of inspections.
Plan the individual inspections and liaise with Maintenance Supervisors regarding the procurement of access equipment and Traffic Management facilities.
Work in strict compliance with Health & Safety procedures at all times. |
| Skills: |
HNC in Civil or Structural Engineering or equivalent.
Minimum of three years experience in the detailed inspection of Bridges or similar large structures. CSCS accreditation. IOSH preferred.
Sound understanding of the structural behavior of various types of bridge construction forms and knowledge of their usual deterioration mechanisms.
Demonstrable proactive approach to Health & Safety matters.
Experience of working in the Motorway and Truck Road environments.
Familiarity with Traffic management regulations and practices. Experience of current HA standards and procedures with respect to Bridge Inspection and experience of managing a structures information database.
