Description: |
We are looking to recruit a Senior QS with experience of power plant construction to become part of the most exciting power project to be undertaken in South Africa for 20 years:
The Medupi Project. As a joint project team with our client, we will be building the largest coal-fired super critical power station in the world, comprising 6 units of 800mw. The project is currently the largest construction project taking place in the Southern hemisphere.
Initially based in the project team in Johannesburg, you will be responsible for managing a team of Quantity Surveyors, Land Surveyors and Cost Engineers, to support the timely completion of this large scale complex project within budget.
Specific tasks will include, but not be limited to:
o Managing and co-ordinating the activities of a team of Quantity Surveyors, Land Surveyors and Cost Engineers performing the following functions:
o Defining price adjustment (CPA) formulae to be included in the enquiry document.
o Checking, verifying and validating the price adjustment/multiple currency calculations as received in tenders.
o Monitoring contracts payable to ensure adherence to the contract payment conditions.
o Providing management accounting and control services with SAP.
o Compiling progress assessments for approval of payment by the project manager.
o Variation and/or compensation event cost analysis, evaluation of claims and provision of contractual advice. Providing recommendations for approval by the project manager and other personnel as instructed.
o Providing assistance and advice in resolving contractual claims and disputes.
o Compiling cash expenditure forecasts and final cost projections.
o Finalising costs and/or auditing of contracts on completion as required.
o Compiling risk analysis, value engineering, system development and cost data information, as required.
o Acting as a member of the negotiation team on the Employer’s behalf.
