Assistant Project Engineer

Kier Workplace Services is looking to recruit an An assistant Engineer will play a key role in the efficient delivery of the Engineering Services provided by the project team. They will assist in the delivery of a wide range of engineering projects and the effective delivery and control of Engineering Services to achieve approved programmes of work and meet approved target levels of service delivery to our client and customers.

Key Responsibilities:

1 To provide technical support and advice to clients including compliance with Health & Safety regulations & other statutory duties of Designer, Client, Client Agent & CDM Coordinator as imposed by the Construction (Design & Management) Regulations.
2 To assist in the preparation of technical formal reports including tender/contract documents & tender analysis and cost estimates.
3 To assist with Contract Administration and Contract Management.
4 To assist in ensuring that all enquiries relating to engineering issues are dealt with within specified time scales.
5 To provide full support in the efficient use of capital resources across all stakeholders in practicing and promoting the core values of Kier and customers.
6 To work in partnership with other stakeholders and external organisations and assisting in dealing with queries and representations from the general public, elected Members and others when required.
7 Establish, develop and maintain information recording project/programme progress and provide updates to the programme manager and client.
8 Under the direction of the Senior Design Engineer, provide and coordinate a programme and project support service for the team.
9 To undertake all aspects of technical design work in respect of Drainage, Highways & Infrastructure schemes and provide CAD, Microdrainage (XP) and PDS support with minimum supervision.
10 Undertake feasibility studies including site inspections and meetings, incorporating conceptual design and option appraisal.
11 To assist in providing concept and detailed analysis and design information relating to civil and building projects; including the appraisal of internal and external designs by other specialists.
12 To play a role in ensuring that all enquiries relating to engineering issues are actioned within specified time scales.
13 To oversee and supervise Contractors.
14 To undertake such other duties and responsibilities as may be required from time to time to ensure service delivery and delivering wider Kier business objectives.

§ Educated to a minimum of HNC level or equivalent in Civil Engineering, having graduate membership of an appropriate professional institution.

§ Knowledge of undertaking Project Management and Civil Engineering works from conception to implementation, dealing with construction related health and safety issues.

§ Knowledge of risk assessment and mitigation

§ Possess a full driving licence

Willingness to attend relevant training and professional development
