Delivery Manager / Construction Manager

Location: Lincoln

Reporting into the Lead Delivery Manager the candidate will be responsible for the successful delivery of projects that have been designed and priced. The role will require the Delivery Manager to deliver these by complying with IOS governance and processes specifically; Project Management, Health & Safety and Commercial. The candidate will manage a delivery team including; Project Engineers, Site Managers, Site Team Leaders and Teams and Subcontractors.

You are responsible for the delivery of projects: - on time and predictably - embedding sustainability principles safely and without detriment to the anyone’s health - efficiently to the Totex Delivery Process and within Governance - using techniques to minimise the effect on our environment.

Key Responsibilities

* Ensure effective communication and interfaces with the Procurement Team for materials, plant and equipment.
* Ensure the relevant safety management system has been employed, that it is kept up to date and the team have been adequately trained.
* Be responsible to the Lead Delivery Manager for delivering all aspects of the project in accordance with the plan. Work closely with the Project Engineers to agree the technical resource required – work closely with the design & construction managers to manage resource costs throughout the project. Agree clear standards & expectations.
* Ensure that sustainability principles in design and construction are fully applied in delivery of projects; work collaboratively. Find the best solutions to meet the IOS CR&S targets - sustainability in design & construction, minimisation of the energy use, carbon emissions, waste materials reduction & the supply chain.
* Lead production management on all projects. Work with the project engineers, Site Managers, Site Team Leaders and site teams to reduce waste and minimise carbon – through materials, time and ways of working.
* Provide area point of contact for OMC resources scheduling, and other AW providers.
* Utilise the skills and knowledge of all team members- encourage an environment of continuous improvement. Support Site Managers and Site Team Leaders to maintain team energy and focus when work is difficult and results hard to achieve. Provide guidance to less experienced team members; assist with the mentoring and development of staff to reach their maximum potential. Provide feedback to the IOS Management Team for one-to-one performance reviews of Design, Commercial and other Support staff.
* Maintain excellent communications with the Project engineer on technical issues and the Lead Delivery Manager on all issues. Recognise and report key issues before they become problems. Maintain the Performance Board - utilise the board to keep the team updated about progress against objectives.
* Continuously engage with the client and Programme Manager to ensure the project is being completed as required.
* Ensure that design output is aligned with construction activity and delivered on time and vice versa.
* Work with the Site Managers and Site Team Leaders to monitor technical teams progress on all required deliverables - advise the Lead Delivery Manager and Programme Manager of any deviation from schedule or budget. Ensure regular production meetings take place and chair when necessary. Keep track of all scope changes and ensure that the change control process and technical query process are adhered to on all projects.
* Liaison with area operational managers, providing assurance and updates, dealing with issues, disputes and ensuring handover is well done.


* Education to Degree level in appropriate craft or engineering discipline
* Operational Water or Water Recycling experience
* People management/motivation skills
* Budget management skills
* Knowledge and Experience of dealing with contractors
* Experience in delivering projects to schedules and on budgetary targets
* Strong negotiating skills
* Understanding of water industry standards and regulations
* Strong cost and risk based analysis skills
* Basic understanding of the regulatory processes that govern AW’s IOS Delivery
