Location: Warwick

Job Purpose:

Working as part of the ASC 9 Technology team to support the management of maintenance projects and activities for the Midlands region covering both HE Area 7 & Area 9. This is a key role providing management of the MIDAS optimisation & ROTTMS projects giving the client assurance that the technology is operational and fit for purpose.

Key Responsibilities:

* The Project Engineer will work in support of the Midlands RTMC Service Manager; assist in managing maintenance activities;
* Deliver projects with minimal supervision or assistance within budget and timescales without compromise on safety and environment
* Liaison with sub-contractor engineering and operational staff to ensure project Parameters are met or exceeded
* Undertake validation of MIDAS technology using specialised reports and software tools Responsible for data validation and fault identification of MIDAS data, reporting and resolution incorporating outputs from Range Checking, Sensor Health Reports, MTV Plots and Halogen Faults including:
* Analysing outputs of weekly validation report.
* Use the outputs of the validation to drive the maintenance program
* Investigating and providing solutions to problems with the network model on a site by site basis.
* Working closely with the maintenance provider holding weekly progress meetings
* Review and interpret data analysis used to continually improve technology availability and performance, providing fact based reports, evidence and feedback as required.
* Responsible for all aspects of Fault Management on ROTTMS/Electrical Interfaces/VAS/MIDAS roadside infrastructure including:
* To ensure the faults helpdesk is contactable during business hours
* Utilising diagnostic tools to ensure correct operation of roadside infrastructure
* Maintaining data integrity on the fault management/validation tools
* Fault identification
* Managing Power Outages
* Booking and managing road space applications
* Produce monthly progress/performance reports
* Ensure safe and efficient maintenance of the Technology Asset on the network through audit.
* Attend stakeholder liaison meetings as required, e.g. DBFO, RCC, NRTS
* Review contractor risk assessments and method statements. On site supervision.
* Actively promote Health and Safety in the workplace, ensuring awareness of and compliance with general Health and Safety responsibilities as set out in the Health and Safety Management System.
* Perform other duties as may from time to time be reasonably required.
* On occasions where emergency technology issues arise the role will need to be contactable out of hours

Key Skills and Qualifications:

* Education to Degree Level or equivalent
* IOSH/SMSTS, SSTMS
* Relevant Industry knowledge and experience.
* Good working knowledge within the highways industry; including relevant knowledge of Technology Maintenance, Design, Development and Delivery.
* Experience working with MIDAS loop/radar technologies with a bias on data validation and an analytical background
* A good understanding of relevant Highways Technology interfaces e.g. NRTS, RTMC, RCC, TPMS, HADECS
* A good understanding of the highways technology asset with experience in technical areas including: Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS), VMS & Signals, Highways Infrastructure - roadside equipment, power supplies and distribution, communications cable networks, NRTS, RCC in-station equipment.
* SMART Motorways and Expressway experience would be advantageous.
* Ability to collate and analyse relevant data, then demonstrate findings in a report or presentation. Ability to read MIDAS MTV plots is advantageous.
* A highly motivated individual with excellent communication and written skills, with the ability to deliver detailed information and successfully manage time to meet deadlines, able to work independently with minimal supervision and take ownership of delegated tasks and duties.
* Computer literate with Microsoft Office package, including analysis using Microsoft Excel and or Access
* A good understanding of supporting factors such as health and safety, CDM, quality management and environmental management systems.
